Scotland Unfiltered

We loved:
The dramatic scenery
The shaggy highland cows – didn’t see enough of them though 🙁
The people
The accent (Jarrah)
Ballater
The rainbows – everywhere, some were the brightest we’ve ever seen and often double-rainbows too. AND we saw where one ended (no time to dig for the pot of gold though).

The Isle of Skye
Cliffe House B&B on Isle of Skye
Second place in the Trivia Quiz in Edinburgh
The autumn colours
Water everywhere, rivers, waterfalls, lochs, sea
Irnbru (softdrink)
Salt & Pepper Salad (Rocket and seaweed)
Some of the food

The stoat/weasel at Eilean Donan Castle
The Kelpie Statues in Falkirk
Finding the dinosaur print
Alan and his B&B in Lanark (Station House Lanark)
The quirky signs in restaurants

Not so much:
Virtual Prohibition being slapped on the country four days into our trip
Narrow, potholed, patched, single lane roads – many heart-starter moments
The weather could have been a tad kinder
The otters hiding from us

Disliked Immensely:
Indian Tikka Masala (Scottish style) – sweet as! with mango and coconut – WTF???? And before you judge us for eating Indian food in Scotland – we had to – all restaurants closed for 6 of our 10 day visit. Take aways only.
Loch Level Hotel & Distillery – worst hotel in Scotland and the most expensive

On the Fence:
Haggis

What the Hell??
On the drinks menu in a café in Stonehaven

I’ve been to Scotland once, and from your pics, I clearly need to go again (without 19 month old in tow). So much to explore – I’d love to walk amongst the castles, forests and the lochs!

I’m laughing at the hot Ribena! I used to take it in a flask to school to warm me up!! You’d get hot berry juice in Lapland too but these days I’d prefer hot mulled wine and in London and Norfolk we saw Christmas hot cider and gin!!

Great lists! We didn’t try Haggis, but I wish I would have for the experience.

I had to look up Ribena. I haven’t heard of that It looks like it’s available at some international grocers in my city, Dallas. And Amazon, of course.
