Veramonte Vineyard
Visited this gorgeous vineyard today as part of our tour to Valparaiso, where Mum enthusiastically participated in the wine tasting (see below). We also met a lovely local, Carolina, who we plan to meet up with next year in Berlin!

Time out from the travel blog to share Jarrah’s exciting news …. This morning she received an email to say she’s been offered the “Dean Sir Samuel Griffith” scholarship at Griffith University. There are only 3 of these awarded each year across all disciplines (not just film) and will provide $54,000 towards uni fees and living expenses. This will help us enormously with the cost of her degree and living away from home for three years. She has also been accepted into the Griffith Honours College which means she is appointed a mentor for the duration of her degree and will have the opportunity to work/study overseas. Admission is limited…

Parque Bicentenario
Took a walk through Parque Bicentenario this morning (approx 2km return trip) and aside from the pics below, saw the still snow-capped Andes in the distance. Unfortunately unable to get a decent pic from where we were. Have decided to take a tour tomorrow to Valparaiso and Vina del Mar (seaside towns). Watch this space …

One, two, three ….
I was feeling VERY proud of my resolution to exercise calm and restraint whilst away on our travels. When I: Didn’t say a word to the seat hog next to me on the Brisbane to Sydney flight – not even when he jumped up out of his (middle) seat and pushed passed me (aisle seat) to get in front of me when getting off the plane. Did NOT get snippy on arrival at Brisbane hotel to be told that parking would be an additional $40 for the night. Did NOT lose my cool when we were waiting patiently in line for 30 minutes to check in and some IDIOT is…
