Brienz & Lauterbrunnen
Today we were back in summer – so we took the boat from Interlaken East to Brienz. We cannot get over the colour of the water in these lakes and rivers – we are forever spoilt as anything less than these pristine, clear blue waters will just not cut it.
Below – Giessbach waterfall flows into Lake Brienz.
Brienz has a lovely promenade along the shoreline. Has loads of wood carvings (Brienz is famous for its wood carvings and violin making), statues, flowers beds galore and even free deck chairs to sit by the lake and relax, read a book …
Brienz’s Brunngasse (street) was voted the most beautiful street in Europe (!) at some point. It is indeed very pretty but there are a number of other streets in Europe (just from this trip alone) that spring to mind that are more deserving of this accolade.
Just when you thought the scenery couldn’t get anymore beautiful, you come to Lauterbrunnen. It lies in a valley between gigantic rock faces and mountain peaks, home to the thundering Trummelbach waterfalls (watch this space), colourful alpine meadows and lovely, friendly Swiss locals.

Pleased you viewed this in warmer months as could image in chills of the alternative 😨. Fab scenery for sure and the lakes certainly there to impress.

Breathtaking scenery.

The recent photographs remind me of when I was a child and read “Heidi,” a story about a young girl living with her grandfather and growing up in a Swiss mountain village. The sheer beauty of nature and the care involved in keeping the villages and towns so attractive and clean is heartening with the Corona Virus raging in other corners of the world. Thank you for sharing the beauty, the commentary and the joy of being alive

Are you sitting in those “FREE” chairs for the next week…
