Haworth

Our new home for the next 4 weeks (who knows what after that!) 🙂

Some pics of Haworth – very picturesque with its cobbled streets, narrow lanes and listed (heritage) buildings.

Haworth is, of course, best known for its association with the Brontës. However, it is also host to; the Tour de France, Tour de Yorkshire (I feel for those cyclists – the hills in Haworth!!) and an annual Steampunk weekend amongst many other events.

For those interested – some interesting history on Haworth and the Brontës here.

Haworth is surrounded by farms and the Yorkshire Dales – this walk within a 2 minute walk of Haworth’s Main Street (shout out to Tracey who introduced us to this walk)

These pics were taken between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Much to Jarrah’s disgust, it starts getting light at around 4.30am and it only gets fully dark at around 10pm at night.

You can tell who is the fittest – always setting the pace ahead and Jarrah struggling to keep up 🙂

All of this walk is on privately owned land, climbing over stiles, through farmers paddocks filled with sheep, cows, horses, cats, chickens, ducks etc.

Some of the locals we met along the way .. had to keep an eye on the yak-type fella as he started following us after we passed him.

Classic Yorkshire Dales views with stone walls dividing the landscape.

We are having a lovely English deluge today. Rain pouring from above. Your walk and climbs over those walls and stiles look like they keep you and Jarrah very physically fit. Loved the photo of the Yak looking bull. I think your trip to England has been much more enjoyable than the one to Trumplandia. Besides, the countryside is so much more beautiful. It makes life in the U.S. appear to be so fleeting, whereas, the UK is enduring the centuries since before Stonehenge, very well indeed. It is evident that over the many generations, there has not only been a sense of setting down a way of life that is eternal, but one that future generations are most satisfied and happy to protect and follow. Hurrah for the Brits! Many thanks to you and Jarrah for the photographs and inspiration.
