Spinning Tops & Movies
The shopping centre below our hotel has these novelty chairs that look like spinning tops – decided to give them a try ….
I LOVE going to the movies overseas – such a completely different experience. Still remember the first time I saw a movie in the UK but my BEST movie experience was in India seeing an Action/Romance Bollywood movie – didn’t understand a word of it (and no sub-titles) but it was so entertaining. Not only the movie but the audience’s reaction – classic! Remember that Mandy? Today was no exception – took ourselves off to see Mujercitas (Little Women) – in English with Spanish subtitles. On arrivial, found that tickets were crazy cheap – A$20 for both of us! Next surprise – there are FIVE flavours of popcorn (Chilli, Caramel, Buttered, Plain or Cheddar). And Tacos with hot cheese dip. Couldn’t understand why he asked if we wanted to eat the popcorn there or in the theatre – when we said “theatre”, he said “I’ll bring it to you”. You what now?
Our jaws dropped to the floor when we entered the theatre – leather chairs big enough for two, with side tables AND lamps and MENUS! Turns out there is seat-service and you can order everything from pizza, to fried chicken to RIBS to sushi, and even more flavours of popcorn and of course beers, wine and cocktails! I LOVE MEXICO!!!
On closer inspection, found that the reason there is leg room for Africa is that the chairs have an electric control to recline the chair and raise a foot rest. Realised later that this cinema complex is called Cinepolis VIP (guessing the VIP is the reason for the extravagant seating and service) – can’t imagine how cheap a “normal” cinema must be!
I tell you … if you’re travelling – GO TO THE MOVIES! You will not be disappointed.

Laughed so loud at those chairs. Who would think that you would have to go to Mexico to get such fabulous cinemas.

Gotta ask – how many wines were had prior to chair encounter?

You are SO rude!! 🙂 A big fat ZERO! (it was about 10 am for starters). Couldn’t get it to move ‘cos I’m too heavy, then when it finally did – got a fright because it felt like I was going to fall off!! 🙂

Oh boy, I have serious cinema envy – might even get Brian there more often with that sort of comfort and service!!
Love the chairs too, and the facial expressions and shrieks even more xx

Cinemas were absolute heaven Deb – although the risk of nodding off is HUGE! 🙂
