Pipeline Trail
Went on another hike on Sunday - on the "Pipeline Trail". Not as scenic/photogenic as the previous hike but this time we were in the search of the highly elusive Resplendent Quetzal (Bird), Howler Monkeys and Sloths.

Suspension Bridge Hike
As Axl Rose from Guns 'n Roses wisely said ... "Welcome to the Jungle" Got up at 7:00 this morning aiming to make a last minute booking for a hike along the Pipeline trail - but unfortunately, there were no availabilities for the next few days. However, the company next door offered a suspension bridge hike, and within two minutes we were seated on a safari bus, making our way to some place in Palo Alto. And by "some place" I mean this:

Christmas Eve
If you don't want to hear/see about food ... skip this one! Decided to treat ourselves seeing as we are in a "strange" country and all alone (hope you feel sorry for us??), so made a last minute booking at The Rock Restaurant. And whilst MUCH more pricey than I'd ordinarily spend - it was well worth it.

Arriving in Boquete
After an hour's drive from David - the city in which we landed - we arrived in the mountainous town of Boquete, and first impressions (in my opinion at least) were very good. The scenery is noticeably more lush than both Santiago and Panama City, and the sound of the nearby stream constantly rushing really adds to the serenity of the place we're staying.

Panama Canal
Got to the Miraflores Lock early this morning in the hope of seeing a ship going through the locks. Unfortunately, on arrival there was the last ship of the morning already in the last section - so not much to witness for the US$40 paid.

Ciclovia Cintra Costera
Well!! What a day we've had!! First up - headed out on foot to find the bike hire shop (went through some interesting parts of town). Once there - became celebrities (again! - ho-hum). Young man working there asked where we were from (of course we said Australia) and asked if he could take a pic for their instagram - sure! See his instagram post below.

Casco Viejo
The "old quarter" of Panama City, once home to gangsters where tourists feared to tread, is now very much party central, and the trendy area of Panama currently going through gentrification on a large scale.

Someone’s been getting into the Pisco Sour ….
A pisco sour is an alcoholic cocktail of Peruvian origin that is typical of the cuisines from Chile and Peru. The drink’s name comes from pisco, which is its base liquor, and the cocktail term sour, in reference to sour citrus juice and sweetener components.
